Why we chose HubSpot

HubSpot Marketing Hub is the study model for Perch email campaigns. This page explains why, in a two-minute read.

TL;DR
  • HubSpot Marketing Hub is the model for Perch email campaigns.
  • HubSpot ties each email to a person, a company, and a deal. Perch must tie each email to an owner, a yard, and a job.
  • We study HubSpot to learn. We do not buy it. We do not send Perch mail through it.
The proof

HubSpot is a top email platform

Reviewers praise one customer record for sales and marketing. That is the same shape Perch needs for people, yards, and jobs.

The fit

HubSpot does what Perch must do

This is why HubSpot won the fit test. The data model matches construction work.

HubSpotPerch
1The peopleContact, company, and deal. Perch uses person, yard, and job.
2The send pathCampaign mail on HubSpot’s network. One-to-one mail on Gmail or Outlook. Perch keeps campaign compose off mailbox compose.
3The listMarketing vs non-marketing contact. Perch uses the opt-out list.
4The follow-upWorkflows fire from bounce and unsubscribe. Perch writes those events on the send row.
5The gateA person can approve before send. Perch already reviews on the exact version.
6The scoreSequences report replies and meetings. Perch counts replies, conversations, and meetings. Opens are not success.
How we chose

Three tests, then one fit test

  1. We scored email send platforms on three tests: number of customers, Fortune 500 use, and ratings on G2, Gartner, Forrester, Capterra, and TrustRadius.
  2. Salesforce Marketing Cloud won Fortune 500 share. We dropped it. The product is hard. The team does not want it as a teacher.
  3. Klaviyo and Twilio SendGrid stayed as strong options. Then we asked: which one works most like Perch? HubSpot won. It is B2B mail on a people-and-company record.
Other options

Why the others fell short

CompanyIts strengthWhy it fell short for Perch
KlaviyoAbout 193,000 paying customers. G2 4.6. Strong flows and suppression.Built for retail: carts, orders, Shopify. Perch data is jobs and people. We still steal “never unsuppress a hard bounce.”
Twilio SendGridSent 2.4 trillion emails in 2025. Best event webhooks and bounce classes.A sending pipe, not a campaign on CRM. Weak support scores (Capterra service 3.7). We steal the after-send operations.
MailchimpLargest account pile, about 11 million. Easy newsletters.A list tool. Growth is now flat inside Intuit. Weak link to jobs and owners.
Salesforce Marketing CloudCommon in the Fortune 500.Hard to use. Long setup. Dropped from this study on 12 October.
BrazeGartner journey-hub Leader. High enterprise scores.Built for millions of app users. Long implementation. Wrong shape for named outreach.

From Klaviyo: keep a hard bounce suppressed. From SendGrid: record delivered, bounce, drop, and complaint on the send row. Isolate each yard’s sending identity.

Keep in mind

This is a study choice. We do not buy HubSpot. We do not add HubSpot as a second sender. Campaigns stay on the yard’s own domain.

A person still reads each email before it leaves Perch. Tom does not send. Success is a reply, a conversation, or a meeting.
